That old BBQ has been sitting on your deck in Terwillegar for two years. Hasn’t worked since 2022, rusted out, missing parts, but you kept saying you’d fix it or take it to the dump. Now it’s just an eyesore and you finally want it gone. We get calls for BBQ removal Edmonton services every single day, especially in spring when people are getting their decks and patios ready for summer.
Last week we hauled away nine BBQs from one house in Riverbend. Guy collected broken grills from friends and neighbors thinking he’d refurbish and sell them. Never happened. They sat in his backyard for three years until his wife put her foot down. We loaded all nine in one trip and he got his yard back.
BBQs are bulky, heavy, awkward to move, and most people don’t have trucks to haul them. Plus the propane situation makes people nervous. That’s why they sit in yards forever instead of getting disposed of properly.
Nobody wants to deal with them. A typical propane BBQ weighs 100-150 pounds. Those big stainless steel ones or natural gas grills can hit 200+ pounds. They’re awkward shapes with wheels that don’t roll anymore, grease traps full of nasty buildup, parts that fall off when you try to move them.
Your car definitely doesn’t fit a BBQ unless you got a truck. Even with a truck, you gotta lift it up into the bed. That’s a two-person job minimum, and you need friends willing to help haul your disgusting old grill around on a Saturday.
The propane tank is another issue. People are scared to transport propane tanks, which is smart because if you don’t know what you’re doing it can be dangerous. Most BBQs we remove still have tanks attached even though they’re empty.
One customer in Windermere tried loading his old BBQ into his SUV with the seats down. Got grease all over the interior, scratched up the cargo area, and the BBQ still didn’t fit. Called us frustrated and we had it gone in 20 minutes.
BBQ disposal Edmonton covers all types. Propane grills, natural gas BBQs, charcoal grills, smokers, portable camping grills – if it’s used for outdoor cooking, we’ll haul it away.
Propane BBQs are the most common by far. Every Edmonton backyard has one. Weber, Broil King, Napoleon, cheap ones from Canadian Tire – we’ve removed thousands of them from yards all over the city.
Natural gas BBQs are permanently connected to gas lines, which means you need to disconnect them before we arrive. We’re not gas fitters so that’s not our job. But once disconnected, we’ll haul them away no problem.
Charcoal grills and smokers are less common but we get them. Big Green Eggs, offset smokers, kettle grills, those drum smokers people build themselves. Some of these are heavy as hell – a large ceramic smoker can weigh 300 pounds.
Portable BBQs and camping grills usually come along with other junk. People cleaning out garages find old camping gear including beat-up portable grills. We take those too, obviously.
Built-in BBQ islands are different. If it’s a permanent structure with brick or stone around it, we can remove the grill unit itself but not the whole structure. That’s demolition work. But the actual BBQ insert? Yeah, we’ll take that.
Empty propane tanks are easy – we take them to proper disposal or recycling facilities. Full or partially full tanks need to be emptied first. We can’t transport pressurized propane tanks in our trucks – it’s not safe and it’s not legal.
Most BBQ tanks people want removed are already empty. The grill stopped working years ago, they used up the propane, never refilled it. We just disconnect the tank and haul everything away together.
If your tank still has propane, you got a few options. Take it to a propane refill place and they’ll empty it for you (might charge a small fee). Or call a propane company to pick it up. Once it’s empty, we’ll remove your BBQ and the tank.
We’ve done grill removal Edmonton jobs where people had multiple propane tanks sitting around – empties from years of BBQ use just accumulating in the garage or shed. We take all of them at once and make sure they’re disposed of properly.
Some propane tanks are so old and rusty they’re not safe to refill anyway. Those definitely need proper disposal, not just tossed in the trash.
April and May are insane for us with BBQ removals. Everyone’s doing spring yard cleanup, getting decks and patios ready for summer, and deciding whether to fix or replace their old grill. Most people choose replace, which means the old one needs to go.
We’re hauling BBQs out of yards in Summerside, Ellerslie, Heritage Valley, Sherwood Park – everywhere – from the moment the snow melts until late June. It’s one of our busiest services in spring.
People want their outdoor spaces looking good for summer entertaining. That rusted out BBQ on the deck doesn’t fit the vision. We come in, remove it quick, and suddenly the deck looks 100% better.
New BBQ deliveries drive alot of calls too. You ordered a new grill from Home Depot or Costco, it’s being delivered next week, and you need the old one gone to make room. We coordinate with your delivery schedule and make sure the old BBQ is out of the way before the new one arrives.
Decks and patios obviously – that’s where they lived when they worked, that’s where they sit when they die. Covered with tarps sometimes, but usually just sitting there exposed to Edmonton weather getting rustier every year.
Backyards are next. You cleared it off the deck to make room but didn’t want to deal with disposal, so it’s sitting in the yard somewhere. Behind the shed, along the fence line, in the corner by the garbage cans. We’ve found BBQs in the weirdest spots around Edmonton properties.
Garages get old BBQs too. Winter comes, you wheel the BBQ into the garage to “protect it,” and then it never leaves. We’ve removed BBQs from garages in Bonnie Doon and Millwoods that clearly haven’t moved in five or ten years.
Side yards and alleys are common storage spots. Out of sight, out of mind. Until the neighbors complain or the city sends a notice about junk in your yard, then suddenly it’s a problem that needs solving.
One house in Clareview had seven BBQs lined up along their back fence. Turns out the previous owner bought broken BBQs cheap planning to fix and flip them. Never did. New owners inherited this BBQ graveyard and called us to clear it all out.
Single BBQ removal usually runs $60-100 depending on size and access. Small portable grill on the cheaper end, massive stainless steel natural gas BBQ costs more. Standard propane BBQ from your deck is usually around $75-85.
BBQ haul away Edmonton pricing includes the propane tank if it’s empty. If you got multiple tanks, we charge a bit extra per tank but it’s reasonable. Better than dealing with propane disposal yourself.
Multiple BBQs cost less per unit. Three BBQs might be $180 instead of $240. We’re already there, loading three grills doesn’t cost us three times as much.
Built-in BBQ removals cost more because they’re heavier and sometimes require tools to disconnect properly. If it’s just sitting in a BBQ island and lifts out easy, normal pricing. If we gotta unbolt it and disconnect gas lines (that are already shut off), that takes more time.
Location matters slightly. Easy access from your backyard to our truck parked in the alley? Standard price. Gotta carry the BBQ through your house and down basement stairs because there’s no yard access? Costs a bit more for the extra labor and time.
New BBQ getting delivered today and you forgot to deal with the old one? We offer same-day BBQ removal Edmonton for situations exactly like this.
Call or text before noon and we can usually get to you same afternoon. Small extra charge for same-day service but when you need it gone NOW, it’s worth it. Better than having two BBQs on your deck or your new one sitting in the box because there’s no room.
Property managers dealing with tenant situations sometimes need same-day service. Tenant left a BBQ behind, new tenants move in tomorrow, it needs gone immediately. We’ll prioritize and get it handled.
Yard cleanup emergencies come up too. Hosting a party this weekend, yard looks terrible with that dead BBQ sitting there, you need it gone before guests arrive. We make it happen.
Rooftop patios in downtown condos are interesting. Gotta coordinate elevator access, sometimes stairs if the BBQ is too big for the elevator, building rules to follow. We’ve removed BBQs from rooftop patios in Oliver, Garneau, and downtown high-rises.
Fenced backyards with no gate access are tricky. If we can’t get the BBQ out through a gate, it’s going through your house. We’re careful about floors and walls, but sometimes that’s the only option. Or we disassemble it in the yard and carry out the pieces.
Apartment balconies have their own challenges. Small BBQs usually fit through sliding doors, but we’ve dealt with situations where the grill won’t fit inside. Sometimes it goes down the stairs on the outside of the building if there’s access.
Decks built around BBQs are the worst. Someone built a deck with a cutout for the BBQ, now the BBQ can’t be removed without partially disassembling the deck. We’ll do what we can but sometimes you need a carpenter first to remove deck boards.
We cover all of Edmonton and surrounding areas for grill disposal Edmonton services. Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Fort Saskatchewan – anywhere within 45 minutes of downtown.
Common neighborhoods we service weekly: Terwillegar, Windermere, Riverbend, Summerside, Ellerslie, Heritage Valley, Millwoods, Mill Woods, Bonnie Doon, Clareview, Manning, Castle Downs, Laurier Heights, Sherwood, Capilano, and dozens more.
Rural properties and acreages around Edmonton too. Sometimes country properties have multiple old BBQs sitting around plus other outdoor equipment. We’ll come out and clear it all at once.

CREW WAS POLITE & ON TIME!
I had a garage full of old furniture, boxes, and random junk that I’d been putting off dealing with for months. They came the same day I called, gave me a fair price upfront, and got everything out way faster than I expected. They even swept up the garage after they were done, which I really appreciated. The crew was polite, on time, and super easy to work with.
